In October, 2002, Friends of Trinity River Refuge along with the Southwestern Bell Pioneers constructed an Observation/Fishing Pier on Champion Lake, South of Dayton, Texas. Champion Lake is part of the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers worked an entire day to complete the decking and the hand rails for the pier.
